As a teaching lecturer at UCL, I led the teaching and coordination of four modules and supported colleagues in their teaching of other modules and field trips. This involved a complete overhaul of the teaching program for the Maps, Images, & Structures module (2nd year UG) including creating all new slides, handouts, exercises, and instructional videos. I implemented a “flipped classroom” structure in this module to maximise the time available for hands-on skills tuition. I also revised the 3rd & 4th year Betics field trip to Spain to accommodate larger student numbers and coach accessibility. This involved several reconnaissance field trips and overcoming logistical challenges. Additionally, I modernised and taught the Surface Processes (1st year sedimentology) and Petrology to Petrogenesis (1st year petrology) modules.
Maps Images & Structures Course Book
This course book I produced for the Maps, Images & Structures module supported the “flipped classroom” style in which the module was taught. The course book contained all the information necessary to complete the coursework and all the exercises that we worked on in class. It also contained other helpful information and links to other resources.
Gigapixel Panorama of the Carboneras Fault at Rambla Granatilla
This gigapixel panorama simultaneously shows the extent and structural context of the Carboneras Fault and the detailed lozenge-shaped phacoids of intact rock within its gouge zone. Taken at Rambla Granatilla near Carboneras, Spain.
Betics Field Guide
This detailed field guide I produced for the Betics field trip covers logistics information, health and safety guidance, background knowledge, and exercises.
Scotland Field Guide
This detailed field guide I produced for the Scotland field trip covers logistics information, health and safety guidance, background knowledge, and exercises.
Staying Safe in the Field
This pamphlet on field trip safety describes basic first aid, hazards and risk assessments, and what to do in an emergency.
Petrology to Petrogenesis Lecture
I provided videos of all of my lectures so that students could prepare for “flipped classroom” exercises, participate in classes from across the world, and use for revision.
